So yeah.
Since opening my
shoppe, I've realized that I'm kinda obsessed with etsy.
Ah. May. Zing.
To be honest, I think everyone should feel the same way. Here's five reasons why:
I hail from a great state that was crippled by the 2008 resession. Even after 6+ years, people are
still rebuilding and rebranding, trying to find their niche again. It's brutal work, and it almost always goes unnoticed. Small businesses are always swallowed by the shadows of corporate companies. Everyone wants things cheap and
now, and they don't want to invest in
people anymore.
Can we change this, folks? Pretty please?
All of us on etsy- no matter how big or small our shop, or how many sales or hits we have- are all small businesses.
Come on. Support them. Support us.
Support me.
Your dollars, when you buy from etsy, fuels imaginations, passions, and creativity. It gives us the gumption to go on, to keep crafting beauty another day.
We. Love. Our. Job.
Through buyers like you, we get to do what we love. every. single. day.
That makes us really, really, really happy. It means we drink more coffee and let the creativity come bursting forth again. We get to paint the world with colors and beauty and textures...and hopefully, that makes your day a little brighter, too.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but there's something so fascinating about handcrafted, unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. What you buy on etsy is 100% authentic art- from literal art for your wall to the art of jewelry, clothing, toys, and accessories.
Doesn't that thrill you....just a little? (or, like a lot?)
Kinda means you have bragging rights to having one of our pieces in your possession. Awesome sauce!
Etsy folk are trying to live their dreams. Dreams of being stay-at-home entrepreneurs, of being debt-free, of traveling and exploring the world one day. Dreams of supporting their children as a single parent, of waking up each morning eager to get to "work", of making the world a better place.
Yeah. We're dreamers.
A little secret?
When you purchase from us, you're making our dreams come true.
And for me, it's not just
my dreams, but it's the dreams of kids in Zambia. Dreams of clean water, food in their bellies, a place to sleep off of the street, encouraging mentors and support. Dreams of shelter and love and true friends.
Buy from here and you help make those kiddos dreams come true.
Sometimes I think community is a lost art. We don't invest in people anymore. No one takes time to visit their neighbors in this fast-paced world of technology.
At etsy, you have the option to shop
in your own community. To support people in your own town, own state, own country.
You get to do your shopping close to home.
Kinda like a those old-fashioned farmers markets, but even better because you can find the exact thing you're looking for. Or, ask for a custom order. Pay with PayPal or whatever means that's easiest.
You choose an item that says, "Made HERE"- wherever that "here" is for you. There's nothing like community pride that binds its citizens together.
